PRODUCT REVIEW | Oat Mama Brewer’s Yeast

Hey new mama. So glad you found my product review for Oat Mama’s Brewer’s Yeast.

First off, take a moment to pause and give yourself a pat on the freaking back! The fact that you are 1) researching brewers yeast and 2) considering making something using it is AMAZING! Big kudos to you.

If you’re here, you may be trying to figure out the best way to increase your supply of breast milk, right? Yup, I was in that same boat. Read more on that in my recipe post for my Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter No-Bake Lactation Balls!

Below is my review of Oat Mama’s Brewers Yeast, though if you are curious, this brand has many other products to check out. Things like teas, supplements and more. Most of those products are also sold on Amazon, which you will find out from me below is the better way to purchase these items!

The Taste:

There is none! And in this scenario, that’s a good thing.

From all the research I did on lactation enhancing products, why they worked and didn’t work, one of the tips that stuck out to me was the taste of the brewers yeast.

If you’re interested in learning more about why brewers yeast increases your breast milk supply, you should check out my recipe post for Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter No-Bake Lactation Balls. I go into detail on the ‘Why’ behind this lactation enhancing supplement.(sorry, I really go in the weeds with this… but hey, I was curious why it is the number one thing that pops up when you Google ‘increasing breast milk supply)

Again, back to the taste, it has a nice, natural smell to it when you open the bag and each time I made my lactation balls recipe using this yeast, I had good luck with how everything tasted.

The Texture:

Product Review | Oat Mama Brewers Yeast | cookithealthier.comAs you can see above, it is a very fine powder. It is a slight yellow color and if you’re not careful, will puff out all over you when you open the bag or close it. So be careful when you open and close the bag or you will get a big whif of yeast in your face.

I appreciate how fine the texture is in this yeast. It is not gritty and doesn’t give a gritty texture to what you are using it in, which I absolutely hate. Some of my protein powders have that texture, despite looking like they are fine powders.

The Price:

I purchased the 16oz bag of the Oat Mama Brewer’s Yeast from Amazon. It is $19.99 for the bag on Amazon and on the Oat Mama website it is $20 (but without the prime shipping…) This is the only size bag offered, so your best bet is to order it from Amazon!

Compared to other brewer’s yeast brands, this is on the higher end price wise. However, as I mentioned above in ‘Taste’ there is a good reason for the price. It doesn’t have a bitter, yeasty taste to it that lingers in what you are trying to blend it into. I did my research on lactation cookies and other baked goods and this was one of the tips that everyone spoke about… the taste. So if you plan to make several batches of my Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip No-Bake Lactation Balls, then you will absolutely get your money’s worth from ordering this bag!

Hope you enjoy this post and find it informational! This is all based on personal research and should you have any questions at all, I would recommend speaking to your Pediatrician, OBGYN or a lactation consultant for more personalized guidance!

If you have any questions or comments, please leave them for me below! Would love to hear from you and if you happen to give this product a try, I want to know what you think too.

xoxo, Ashley
