Whether you love to love Valentines Day or you’ve written it off as a “fake holiday” long ago, you can still show yourself a little love with this scrub. Ha, ok seriously, try and say that sentence 5 times fast…
I started to think about a special Valentines Day recipe that I wanted to share with you all, but I kept coming back to the fact that i’m trying to stay on track with my Weight Watchers program AND the fact that my Valentine doesn’t really like sweets… *sigh*
So I decided to make something that you can use as a special gift for your Galentine or maybe as a treat for yourself to use with your special Valentine… (mom, don’t read this and get any ideas!)
I love this simple DIY recipe for a body scrub because it actually gets me to exfoliate my skin on my arms and legs. I just never think to do it, but if I have something special like this made up for me and sitting in the shower, I am like having a little spa day every time I hop in the shower. And let me tell ya, your skin will feel SO SMOOTH AND AMAZING, you will probably be motivated to make it again. 🙂
Why Rose & Bergamont?
Well, first off, duh. Roses and Valentines Day just go together hand in hand. However, I wanted to jazz up the scent because I tend to think some rose scents smell a tad dated. Like a bit old lady-ish to me, but that’s not all rose scented items. I love the rose lip balm by Mario Badescu… that rose smell is AMAZING.
Ok, back to the scrub. I added Bergamont essential oil to the mix for it’s citrusy notes. It livens up the rose smell just a bit and the combo is just heavenly in the shower.
I also added some Rosehip oil, which you honestly can omit if you don’t feel like buying any. I recommend it as it adds an extra element of skin pampering. Rosehip oil is fantastic for its anti-aging and skin plumping abilities. It also has been shown to firm skin and fade scars, which makes it the PERFECT addition to a body scrub!
Now, another way to think about this DIY Rose Petal & Bergamont Sugar Scrub is that it’s a great way to repurpose those pretty roses you get for Valentines Day! Don’t throw them away, use a couple of them to make yourself this scrub and suddenly they turn into the gift that keeps on giving! Thanks, hunny!
Ingredients:
This recipe amount below gave me 2 full half pint mason jars + a little extra 🙂
- 2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup softened REFINED coconut oil (refined means there is no coconut smell)
- 1 cup fresh rose petals (2 large roses)- I used pink for its color, but any color rose works
- 40 drops rose essential oil
- 40 drops rosehip oil (different than rose essential oil)
- 10 – 15 drops Bergamont essential oil
- 1 cup softened coconut oil
Hope you all enjoy!
